The 2021 Global Digital Trade Conference is slated for opening on Oct. 12, in Wuhan, capital city of central China’s Hubei Province, local government said on Oct. 8.

This year’s conference will embrace envoys from nearly 100 countries, 30 representatives of enterprises and some 100 overseas guests.

The former Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development Supachai Panitchpakdi, former Prime Minister of New Zealand Jenny Shipley, winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics and Norwegian economist Finn Kidland will deliver congratulatory messages for the event via video. And Gao Peiyong, Ma Guangyuan and other well-known domestic economists and scholars will give speeches at the forums during the event.

The 2021 Wuhan Commodity Fair will take place during the trade conference, lasting until Oct. 26 in both online and offline forms. About 400 representatives from 100 important wholesale markets, 20 well-known foreign trade companies, 20 well-known digital technology companies and guests from home and abroad will attend the fair. Foreign business groups and 34 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions across the country will send out delegations to set up booths at the fair.

As one of the organizers, Wuhan government noted that the two events are of a high degree of outward orientation in economy, wide participation and strong radiation. It is expected that more domestic digital trade companies and platforms will be attracted to the city, so as to improve Wuhan's business circulation advantages and accelerate the development of its digital trade industry.
