The number of passenger trips in Hubei during China's upcoming Spring Festival travel rush will rise 47 percent from the same period of 2021 to 8 million, according to a work conference held on Jan. 6.

The figure also marks a drop of 45.5 percent from the same period in 2019.

The Spring Festival travel rush, also known as chunyun, will last from Jan. 17 to Feb. 25 this year.

During the 40-day travel season, many Chinese people will travel to reunite with their families for the Chinese Lunar New Year, or Spring Festival, which will fall on Feb. 1, 2022. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Ruan Xinqi)
