The total number of high-tech enterprises in Hubei expanded 40 percent year on year to 14,560 in 2021, maintaining the seventh among Chinese cities and the top in central China, local authorities said on February 9.

In 2021, the added value of the province's high-tech enterprises above the designated size stood at 1,019.65 billion yuan, crossing the 1-trillion mark for the first time.

During the period, the number of national small and medium-sized enterprises of science and technology in Hubei surpassed 14,100, with a year-on-year increase of nearly 90 percent.

In addition, the added value of high-tech manufacturing industry in the province soared by 30.2 percent, 15.4 percentage points higher than the growth rate of industrial enterprises above the designated size.

Wuhan, capital city of Hubei Province, saw its number of high-tech enterprises grow by 46.2 percent to 9,145, accounting for 63 percent of the province’s total. （en.hubei.gov.cn by Zhang Yawei）
