Chinese, Korean companies join hands to strengthen supply chain of new energy materials
Chinese metals recycler GEM signed with EcoPro, the leading supplier of cathode materials for ternary lithium batteries in South Korea on March 28, pledging to cooperate and strengthen the new energy material supply chain.
According to the agreement, GEM will sell a 9-percent stake of in its Indonesian nickel processing joint venture project to EcoPro, and the latter will purchase 700,000 tons of high-nickel ternary precursor materials from the former within four years.
The 700,000-ton super order worth a total of more than 100 billion yuan will be mainly produced and supplied by GEM’s branch company in Jingmen, Hubei Province. It will lay a solid foundation for GEM to achieve its output value target of 50 billion yuan in the province in 2025.
Since 2015, GEM and EcoPro have established a deeply integrated cooperation in industrial chain, centering around the fields of high-nickel precursor materials, high-nickel cathode materials, power battery recycling, and nickel resource guarantee, which brought GEM’s Jingmen branch company to the world-leading material manufacturing base for high-nickel ternary precursor.
