Wuhan saw 182 trips made by China-Europe freight train in the first five months of this year, an increase of 63 percent, hitting a record high since the China-Europe freight train service started in 2012 in the city.

Out of total, 101 outbound trips had been made during the period and 81 of which arrived their destinations, up 58 percent and 69 percent, respectively.

In the five months, the freight trains mainly helped export auto parts, optoelectronic products, solar photovoltaic modules, solar modules, solar panels, clothing, daily necessities and anti-epidemic materials from Hubei and its surrounding provinces, while helped import wine, wood non-staple food and other products from Europe. Hamburg and Duisburg in Germany were their main destinations.

Data showed that both the outbound and inbound trips maintained substantial surge during the period, although the number of the former was slightly larger than the latter.

At present, Hubei has initially formed a railway channel for cross-border trade, which is centered around China-Europe (Wuhan) freight trains and China-Laos freight trains. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Ruan Xinqi)
