Hubei's grain output remained above 50 billion catties in 2021, marking its 9th consecutive bumper year despite the COVID-19 pandemic and supply disruption.

In 2021, Hubei’s total grain sowing area expanded to 70.29 million mu, which contributed to an increased grain output of 55.29 billion catties.

Meanwhile, Hubei implemented grain-saving and loss-reduction actions to reduce grain losses by more than nine billion catties.

In June this year, 15.7 million mu of summer grain in Hubei will be put into storage, which is expected to ensure the province’s another bumper year with over 50 billion catties of grain. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Ruan Xinqi)
