Hubei sees foreign trade up 17 pct in January-May
Hubei recorded a total import and export value of 237.7 billion yuan in the first five months of this year, a year-on-year growth rate of 17 percent, according to Wuhan Customs on June 14, 2022.
Exports rose 26.7 percent year on year to 157.61 billion yuan during the period, while imports increased 1.6 percent to 80.09 billion yuan.
In May alone, the total import and export value hit 53.31 billion yuan, an increase of 24.1 percent.
In January-May period, Hubei’s trade with its top three trading partners - the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the European Union and the United States - came in at 35.34 billion yuan, 29.02 billion yuan and 27.99 billion yuan, respectively, while trade with other members of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership and countries along the Belt and Road totaled 71.23 billion yuan and 65.49 billion yuan, respectively.
The imports and exports of Hubei's private enterprises reached 146.15 billion yuan, accounting for 61.5 percent of the province’s total.
14 cities in the province achieved growth in the five months. Wuhan, Hubei’s capital city, maintained strong performance with total imports and exports standing at 144.3 billion yuan, a proportion of 60.7 percent of the province’s total. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Ruan Xinqi)
