Protection area of Yangtze River wetland surges in past 15 years
The total area of Yangtze River wetlands under protection has increased by 25 times since the Yangtze River Wetland Protection Network established 15 years ago, according to Wetland Network Forum at the 14th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands (COP14) on November 9, 2022.
As pioneer of China’s wetland protection network, the Yangtze River Wetland Protection Network was founded in November, 2007.
Now, the number of wetlands from source of the Yangtze River to its estuary which are under protection of the network has increased to more than 300, a 14-fold increase since its establishment.
