Hubei's traditional tea-making techniques contribute to China's application for UNESCO cultural heritage

The item "Traditional tea processing techniques and associated social practices in China" passed the examination at the 17th session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage held in Rabat, Morocco, on Nov. 29, 2022.


So far, China has 43 items on the intangible cultural heritage list, continuing to be the most enlisted country in the world.


The processing techniques of Enshi Yulu tea, Zhaoliqiao brick tea and Changshengchuan chin-brick tea from Hubei, along with other 41 domestic traditional tea-making techniques and related customs were introduced at the examination as representatives presenting China’s tea and wisdom to the world. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Ruan Xinqi)
