Six representatives share their stories of Hubei Province
A thematic briefing session on the Communist Party of China (CPC), titled "Stories of CPC: Hubei's Achievements in Practicing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era", commenced on May 30 in Wuhan, capital city of Hubei Province. On this occasion, six representatives from different fields shared their own stories of Hubei.
Zhou Zongkun, a researcher from Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Research Center of Wuhan University.
"With the combined efforts of 300,000 people over the past three decades, China's BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS-3) was successfully launched for global users," said Zhou Zongkun, adding that the team has made the positioning accuracy of Beidou reach 1mm, which is the ultimate accuracy of satellite positioning technology.
Mao Weiqi, chief engineer of China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group Co., Ltd (MBEC).
He said, “MBEC undertook the design and construction of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge in Bangladesh, slashing travel times from parts of the southwest of the country to the capital Dhaka from three hours to 10 minutes. It has become a dream bridge for the people in Bangladesh.” Over the past 70 years, the Wuhan-based MBEC has built more than 4,000 bridges at home and abroad. "It's my dream to bring the world closer," he said.

“The waters of the Yangtze River have become clear, the river banks have been restored and the Yangtze finless porpoises have witnessed increasing number,” said Yang He. Through a series of photos, he shared his stories about Yangtze finless porpoises, as well as changes of the Yangtze River in Hubei after the enforcement of China’s Yangtze River Protection Law.
Cheng Ju, Party branch secretary of Dashi Village, Chongyang County, Xianning City.
In 2014, Cheng Ju returned to her hometown after graduating from the university. She has been elected as Party branch secretary of Dashi Village, and has made up her mind to help villagers out of poverty. “Today, all households in the village have access to the Internet, and mobile phones has become a new tool for farmers,” she said.
Zhou Lin, Secretary of the Party Committee of Huajin Community, Nanhu Street, Wuhan City.
She said, “ In our residential area, lots of problems are resolved by the resident council, as residents have a say in their own affairs.” The Huajin Community is an old community with a history of more than 20 years, and is home to more than 12,000 residents. Under the leadership of the Party Committee, residents work together to create a good environment, showing grassroots governance in Hubei Province.

“For me, Hubei is an important window to discover the charm of China,” said Brian Gonzalez. He has traveled to more than 40 countries around the world. Since his first visit to Hubei in 2014, the young man has made countless trips around the province over the past decade, including Wuhan, Shennongjia, Enshi and Shiyan. Brian hopes that he could continue to serve as a bridge of cultural exchanges between Argentina and China, so that foreign friends could know more about China.
