Huanggang, a city of Hubei Province, issued 18 measures to support the inheritance and innovation of traditional Chinese medicine on July 27.

The city will cooperate with well-known Chinese medicine universities to set up training courses of famous doctors, and will support the cooperation between traditional Chinese medicine hospitals and specialized colleges and universities. The city will also support the construction of academic inheritance bases for ancient doctors such as Li Shizhen and Wan Mizhai.

Huanggang will launch the selection of experts in traditional Chinese medicine, and will support the construction of training bases and promotion of appropriate technology of traditional Chinese medicine.

The city will recruit 1,500 traditional Chinese medicine personnel in three years, doubling the total number of talents. And two or three traditional Chinese medicine strategic talent teams will be introduced.

Huanggang aims to achieve full coverage of urban smart traditional Chinese medicine pharmacies, township health centers (community healthcare centers), and village clinics (community health service stations) within three years.

Huanggang is the hometown of Li Shizhen, the father of Chinese traditional medicine. The city's cultivated area and production of Chinese medical herbs all rank first in the province.
