Hubei sees imports and exports exceed 450 bln yuan in first three quarters

Hubei’s total imports and exports reached 457.51 billion yuan in the first three quarters of this year, according to data released by Wuhan Customs on October 26, 2023.


Out of total, the exports amounted to 308.23 billion yuan, while the imports stood at 149.28 billion yuan.


The imports and exports of the first, second and third quarter of this year reached 140.73 billion yuan, 158.61 billion yuan and 158.17 billion yuan, respectively.


In September alone, Hubei’s imports and exports exceeded 20 billion yuan, with the value of imports hitting record high.


In the first nine months of this year, the imports and exports of Hubei’s private enterprises maintained growth, expanding 6.1 percent to 307.27 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.8 percentage points and a proportion of 67.2 percent of the province’s total imports and exports.


Hubei’s imports and exports of general trade reached 352.84 billion yuan during the same period, accounting for 77.1 percent of the province’s total foreign trade value, up 1.9 percentage points year on year.


Hubei’s trade with the Belt and Road Initiative partner countries totaled 220.1 billion yuan in the first three quarters of this year, an increase of 7.6 percent. And the trade with Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the European Union rose 6.5 percent and 6.8 percent to hit 76.08 billion yuan and 60.1 billion yuan, respectively.


During the same period, Hubei exported 156.63 billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, up 4.4 percent, registering over 50 percent of the province’s total exports. Meanwhile, 45.61 billion yuan of energy, metal ore, grain and other staple commodities as well as 10.7 billion yuan of consumer goods were imported, up 48.3 percent and 34.8 percent, respectively. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Ruan Xinqi and Xin Mingcan)
