Hubei exports agricultural products worth 24.51 bln yuan in 2023
Hubei saw its annual exports of agricultural products grow by 4.7 percent year on year to 24.51 billion yuan in 2023, setting a new record high. The total export value ranks 7th nationwide and first in central China, data from Wuhan Customs showed.
Hubei plays a significant role in agricultural production and exports in the country. Major agricultural exports include condiments and related products (including mushroom sauce), mushrooms (processed), unmixed vegetable juice, dried mushrooms, and tea. Export values for these products were 4.04 billion yuan, 2.69 billion yuan, 2.08 billion yuan, 1.62 billion yuan, and 1.37 billion yuan, respectively.
Since the beginning of 2023, the province has laid down policies to harness its regional advantages, with a focus on 10 major agricultural industrial chains, and supported two export-oriented enterprises to go public. Besides, Hubei has established 13 high-quality development bases for international trade in agriculture, bringing the total number of such bases to 23 in the province, ranking first in central China and second nationwide. These bases have contributed to nearly 40 percent of the province's total agricultural exports over the same period.
Last year, Hubei also hosted a number of activities in many cities across the country to promote local special food, and organized local enterprises to participate in domestic and international expositions. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Ruan Xinqi and Li Yiang)
