Ezhou Huahu Airport adds two int'l air cargo routes
At 7:30 on February 6, a freighter from Addis Ababa, capital city of Ethiopia, touched down at Ezhou Huahu Airport, marking the inauguration of the first international air cargo route from Ezhou to Africa.
With this development, Huahu Airport is now connected to four major continents in the world.
Launching its first air cargo route to Africa, Huahu Airport plans to operate two flights weekly, offering a transport capacity of 400 tonnes for goods moving between Ezhou and Addis Ababa. The maiden flight carried around 70 tonnes of cargo, which is maily comprised of general goods, 3C electronics, and electronic devices.
Addis Ababa is reputed as the gateway and political and economic center of Africa. With the launch of the “Ezhou-Addis Ababa” all-cargo air route, China and Ethiopia will see their economic collaborations deepen and cultural ties flourish.
At 8:38 on February 6, a SpiceJet freighter from India landed at Huahu Airport, bringing 420 pieces of wild green crabs from the Bay of Bengal, weighing 6.7 tonnes in total. The arrival marks the inauguration of the airport's third international air cargo route to India and the first to connect Ezhou with Kolkata.
Known as the first cargo hub airport in Asia, Huahu Airport has already launched 48 domestic air cargo routes and 14 international air cargo routes, forming a network covering the whole country and linking the world. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Ruan Xinqi and Li Yiang)
