Hubei's foreign trade up 12.7 pct in Jan-Feb
Hubei's imports and exports reached 102.03 billion yuan in the first two months of this year, up 12.7 percent year on year, local customs said on March 15.
Of the total, exports posted 70.49 billion yuan, up 14 percent from the same period last year, while imports gained 9.8 percent to 31.54 billion yuan.
Hubei’s imports and exports of general trade in January and February amounted to 77.24 billion yuan, accounting for 75.7 percent of the province's total foreign trade volume.
During the period, Hubei's foreign trade with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the United States stood at 18.05 billion yuan and 9.02 billion yuan, respectively.
Meanwhile, the province’s trade with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative totaled 51.09 billion yuan, rising by 12.9 percent year on year.
Private enterprises witnessed strong performance with the import and export volume hitting 70.55 billion yuan over the period, while the imports and exports of state-owned enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises reached 16.05 billion yuan and 15.39 billion yuan, respectively.
Exports of mechanical and electrical products represented a year-on-year growth of 38.9 percent to 38.73 billion yuan, while exports of labor-intensive products reached 14.82 billion yuan, soaring by 94.6 percent.
Wuhan, capital city of Hubei Province, registered a year-on-year increase of 20.6 percent to 55.76 billion yuan in foreign trade, taking up a 54.6-percent share of the province's total during the same period. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Zhang Yawei)
