Hubei sees tourism surge during Qingming festival

The number of travel orders to Hubei Province during the Qingming Festival holiday which just ended on April 6 increased by 162 percent year on year, according to an online travel platform.


The data showed that Wuhan ranked eighth on the list of travel destinations in China during the period.


Spring outing for flower viewing has become a popular way of spending holiday for Hubei people, and the number of related ticket orders has risen sharply year on year. During the three-day holiday, Wuhan Flower Expo received nearly 50,000 visits, an increase of about 30 percent compared to usual time.


Hubei saw tourists aging between 18 and 25 account for more than 20 percent over the three days. A large number of college students from other provinces came to Wuhan, visiting the Yellow Crane Tower and Hubei Provincial Museum, as well as the Liangdao Street, Shanhaiguan Road to experience the breakfast culture.
