Hubei's GDP expands 5.8 pct in H1
The gross domestic product (GDP) of Hubei Province exceeded 2.73 trillion yuan in the first half (H1) of 2024, with a year-on-year increase of 5.8 percent, local statistics authorities said on July 19.
The growth rate was 0.2 percentage points higher than the province’s performance during the same period of last year, and 0.8 percentage points higher than the national level.
From January to June, the added value of Hubei's primary, secondary and tertiary industries grew by 3.1 percent, 6.6 percent and 5.6 percent year on year, respectively.
During the same period, the province’s total output of summer grain recorded a year-on-year growth of 0.4 percent to 4.9055 million tonnes.
The added value of industries above designated size registered an increase of 7.9 percent year on year, while those of high-tech manufacturing sector surged by 24.6 percent.
Hubei’s investment in fixed assets (excluding rural household) rose 5.9 percent year on year over the same period. The total retail sales of consumer goods surpassed 1.13 trillion yuan, ascending by 5.5 percent year on year. And the province's foreign trade amounted to 313.32 billion yuan, soaring by 5.3 percent.
In the first half of this year, a total of 538,400 new jobs were created in urban areas of the province. The per capita disposable income of all residents in the province advanced 4.9 percent over the same period of last year. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Zhang Yawei)
