Hubei's foreign trade up 36.6 pct in first four months

Hubei's imports and exports stood at 260.78 billion yuan in the first four months of 2025, up 27.5 percent year on year, local customs said on Thursday.


Of the total, exports posted 189.65 billion yuan, surging by 36.6 percent from the same period last year, while imports gained 8.4 percent to 71.13 billion yuan.


During the period, Hubei's imports and exports with its top two trading partners - ASEAN and the EU - stood at 63.13 billion yuan and 32.54 billion yuan, surging by 71.9 percent and 43.2 percent, respectively.


Meanwhile, the province’s trade with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative totaled 142.63 billion yuan, ascending by 32.2 percent.


Hubei's imports and exports with emerging markets such as Latin America and the Middle East reached 29.06 billion yuan and 14.55 billion yuan, rising by 15.2 percent and 36.3 percent, respectively.


There were more than 7,000 foreign trade enterprises with import and export performance in Hubei. Private enterprises witnessed strong performance with the import and export volume hitting 185.99 billion yuan over the period, while the imports and exports of state-owned enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises reached 40.06 billion yuan and 34.64 billion yuan, respectively.


Wuhan, capital city of Hubei Province, posted 138.81 billion yuan in foreign trade. Ezhou, leveraging the logistics advantages of the Huahu International Airport, saw a 267.9-percent surge in imports and exports. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Zhang Yawei)
