Hubei's foreign trade up 27.3 pct in first 8 months

Hubei's imports and exports stood at 546.39 billion yuan in the first eight months of 2025, up 27.3 percent year on year, local customs said.


Of the total, exports posted 389.83 billion yuan, surging by 35 percent from the same period last year, while imports gained 11.5 percent to 156.56 billion yuan.


There were more than 9,100 foreign trade enterprises with import and export performance in Hubei. Private enterprises witnessed strong performance with the import and export volume hitting 387.57 billion yuan over the period. The growth rates of state-owned enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises both exceeded double digits.


During the period, Hubei's imports and exports with its top two trading partners - ASEAN and the EU - stood at 121.69 billion yuan and 71.41 billion yuan, surging by over 40 percent respectively.


Meanwhile, the province’s trade with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative totaled 299.33 billion yuan, ascending by more than 30 percent.


Wuhan, capital city of Hubei Province, contributed more than 50 percent to the province's total foreign trade during the same period. Ezhou, leveraging the logistics advantages of the Huahu International Airport, saw its import and export volume reach 29.6 billion yuan, skyrocketing by 4.3 times.


Exports of mechanical and electrical products represented a year-on-year growth of 23 percent to 194.73 billion yuan, while exports of labor-intensive products reached 52.13 billion yuan. Imports of mineral products registered 31.846 million tonnes, while imports of mechanical and electrical products hit 61.4 billion yuan. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Zhang Yawei)
