Wuhan sees surge in China-Europe freight train service in first 11 months
Wuhan, capital city of central China’s Hubei Province, reported 432 China-Europe freight train trips in the first 11 months of this year, official data showed on Dec.15.
During the period, the freight trains carried 35,500 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) containers of goods. The total import and export value amounted to 12.116 billion yuan, accounting for 19.1 percent of Hubei’s foreign trade volume with the European Union in the Jan.-Nov. period.
This year, Wuhan extended China-Europe freight-train services to Milan in Italy, Kaliningrad in Russia, Almaty in Kazakhstan and Tashkent in Uzbekistan, as well as a sea-rail combined transport service connecting the Wujiashan station with the Yangluo Port.
As of now, the city has launched 29 China-Europe freight train routes, reaching more than 70 cities in 30-plus countries of Europe, central and western Asia.
