The Yangtze Three Gorges 1, a purely electric-powered cruise ship, made its maiden voyage in Zigui New Port, Yichang, Hubei on March 29.

The cruise ship was jointly developed by China Yangtze Power, a subsidiary of China Three Gorges Corp, and the Hubei Three Gorges Tourism Group. The ship, which is 100 meters long and 16.3 meters wide, can accommodate 1,300 passengers. It is powered purely by electricity featuring the largest battery capacity and the highest computer processing power around the world.

Once put into use, the cruise ship will mainly be used for night tours of the Yangtze River, as well as sightseeing trips to the Three Gorges Dam, Gezhou Dam, Xiling Gorges, and the Three Gorges Ship Lift.
