China-Mexico Business Dialogue held in Wuhan
The China-Mexico Business Dialogue was held in Wuhan, capital city of Hubei Province, via video link on June 23, 2022.
Representatives of political parties, local governments, enterprises and universities from both sides discussed over issues relating to policy communication and local cooperation as well as industrial advantages and practical cooperation between China and Mexico.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mexico. Li Rongcan, deputy secretary of the Hubei Provincial Party Committee, made remarks in his speech that Hubei has always played as an important participant and staunch promoter of China-Mexico friendly cooperation in past five decades. As the level of China-Mexico friendly cooperation continues to reach new heights, the exchanges and cooperation between Hubei and Mexico have also been stepping forward.
Over the years, Hubei and Mexico have carried out exchanges and cooperation in personnel exchanges, trade and investment, air cargo, education and technology, sister-city relationship, and anti-epidemic cooperation, relying on people-to-people and cultural exchanges and economic and trade cooperation.
Wuhan, Jingzhou and Tianmen cities in Hubei have established sister-city relationship with three cities in Mexico. In addition, Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and other universities in the province have conducted exchanges and cooperation with Mexican universities in various forms.
Mexico is an essential trading partner, investment destination and infrastructure project partner of Hubei. The two sides have achieved positive results in agriculture, energy and minerals, infrastructure, and transportation.
Statistics show that in 2021, Hubei's total imports and exports with Mexico stood at 10.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 78 percent. The direct cargo flight linking Mexico and Wuhan was launched in May 2021, which is the first cargo route from mainland China to Latin America.
Apart from the video conference, an exhibition displaying the exchanges and cooperation between Hubei and Mexico was organized at the same time. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Ruan Xinqi)
