Wuhan to add 5 national highways
Wuhan is set to add five national highways with a total length of about 304 km, according to a plan unveiled by the state on outlining major targets for a national road network this year, local transport administration said on July 18, 2022.
Wuhan currently has 13 national highways with a total length of 739 km, outnumbering other sub-provincial cities in the country and provincial capital cities in central China.
By 2035, Wuhan will build five national highways, including the Wuhan Metropolitan Ring Road (G9906), Beijing-Wuhan Highway (G0424), Wuhan-Chongqing Highway (G4223), Ningde-Wuhan Highway (G7021) and Wuhan-Yueyang Highway (G5015), the plan revealed.
The newly added national highways aim to strengthen the link between Wuhan and the country’s southeastern, southwestern and northern regions.
At present, the Wuhan-Yueyang Highway (G5015) has been completed, Beijing-Wuhan Highway (G0424) and Ningde-Wuhan Highway (G7021) are expected to be completed by the end of this year, Wuhan-Chongqing Highway (G4223) is under construction and Wuhan Metropolitan Ring Road (G9906) is projected to start construction within this year.
