Wuhan's GDP exceeds 1.88 trillion yuan in 2022
The gross domestic product (GDP) of Wuhan, capital city of Hubei Province, exceeded 1.88 trillion yuan in 2022, up 4 percent from the previous year, according to official data published on March 30, 2023.
In 2022, the added value of Wuhan’s primary, secondary and tertiary industries increased by 3.2 percent, 7.3 percent and 2.3 percent, respectively.
It was worth noting that there were 3,249 high-tech new enterprises in Wuhan throughout the year. The added value of all 12,400 high-tech industries reached 532.19 billion yuan, accounting for 28.2 percent of the city’s GDP, an increase of 0.8 percentage points over the previous year.
The data stated that Wuhan’s economic growth for the whole year was backed by the continuous growth of permanent population and market entities.
By the end of 2022, Wuhan's permanent population stood at 13,739,900, an increase of 90,100 over the previous year. The number of market entities expanded 13.5 percent year on year to hit 1.7850 million. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Ruan Xinqi)
