Wuhan extends China - Europe freight train service to Taiwan
A China-Europe freight train left Wuhan on April 19 with a test container shipped from Europe, bound for Taiwan’s Keelung City, marking the launch of a new extended route for the service.
The test container loaded in Duisburg, Germany arrived in Wuhan and then was sent by rail to the port city of Ningbo, from where it will be shipped by sea to Keelung in Taiwan.
The whole journey is expected to take around one month, which is half a month shorter than previous conventional sea freight.
The Europe-Wuhan-Taiwan freight train service is a rail-sea multimodal transport channel that provides a new logistics solution for the freight transport between Europe and Taiwan, according to Wuhan Asia-Europe Logistics, the operator of China-Europe freight train (Wuhan).
In recent years, the company has operated five intermediary trade routes, which are making Wuhan an international logistics hub, by integrating its railroad, waterborne freight and port resources. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Ruan Xinqi)
