Wuhan scores 6th rank among Chinese cities in Global Innovation Index 2022
Wuhan, capital city of Hubei Province, ranked 16th place in the world's urban clusters and 6th among Chinese cities in the Global Innovation Index 2022, local authorities said on April 26.
The Global Innovation Index, published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) since 2007, has shaped the innovation measurement agenda and become a cornerstone of economic policymaking.
In 2022, a total of 77,464 work copyrights were registered in Wuhan, accounting for more than 90 percent of the provincial total, and rising by 8 percent year on year.
Last year, 89,461 patents were authorized in Wuhan, including 23,658 invention patents, up 3.57 percent and 27.52 percent year on year. The number of high-value invention patents per 10,000 people in the population reached 28.09, growing by 14.8 year on year.
The city saw 472,269 valid trademark registrations and 40 geographical indications over the same period.
In 2022, Wuhan started the construction of 14 high-value patent cultivation centers, so as to promote enterprises, universities, research and development institutions to produce high-value technology patents. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Zhang Yawei)
