Wuhan targets GDP growth of 6 pct in 2024
Wuhan, capital city of Hubei Province, expects its GDP to grow at 6 percent in 2024, according to the work report delivered by Cheng Yongwen, mayor of Wuhan, at the third session of the 15th Wuhan Municipal People’s Congress opened on January 18, 2024.
The city’s economy saw a gradual recovery each quarter in 2023: up 4.5 percent in Q1, 5 percent in the first half, and 5.5 percent in the first three quarters. The 12-month growth is estimated at around 6 percent, setting the stage for further progress, data from the work report showed.
In 2024, the city aims to secure a 6 percent increase in GDP, create 250,000 new jobs in urban areas, and achieve a growth of 3 percent in CPI. Efforts will be made in fostering high-tech enterprises to hit 15,500 in total, and constructing 10 cross-border e-commerce industrial parks. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Ruan Xinqi and Li Yiang)
