By the numbers: Wuhan makes progress in high-quality development in 2023
High-quality development is the first and foremost task in the Chinese modernization drive. Wuhan, capital city of Hubei Province, made significant progress in achieving high-quality development in 2023. Let's take a look.
- The number of business entities exceeded 2.06 million.
- Metro line 19, phase II of metro line 5 and China’s first suspended monorail were put into operation, bringing the total operating mileage to 540 kilometers.
- 1,020 industrial projects worth more than 100 million yuan were signed, 917 projects worth more than 100 million yuan were started, and 464 projects worth more than 100 million yuan were completed.
- 296 old residential areas were renovated, 108 parks and 103 kilometers of greenways were rebuilt.
- 152,000 parking spaces and 70,800 charging piles were added.
- There were more than 2,000 new high-tech enterprises, 612 new small and medium-sized enterprises, and more than 300 national-level “little giant” enterprises that used special and sophisticated technologies to produce novel and unique products.
- Slow traffic facilities with 150 kilometers were improved, and 260 customized bus routes were launched.
- 292,600 new urban jobs were created, and 306,000 college students obtained employment in the city.
- 172 service facilities for the elderly were built.
- 89 public kindergartens, primary and middle schools were renovated, and 65,400 academic degrees were added.
- 6 new hospital branches of Class III hospitals were completed and put into use.
