Wuhan's FDI inflow exceeds 2 bln USD in 2023

Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Wuhan stood at 2.086 billion U.S. dollars in 2023, recording a growth rate of 14 percentage points higher than the national average and ranking first in central China.


During the period, 378 new foreign-invested firms were set up in the city, up 32.63 percent year on year, showing foreign businesses' confidence in long-term investment in Wuhan.


In 2023, Wuhan's actual use of European investment skyrocketed by 738.6 percent year on year. There were 32 new European-invested enterprises in the city, surging by 88.2 percent year on year.


Foreign investment in industry sector registered a year-on-year growth of 28.0 percent during the period.


High-tech industries saw a rapid FDI increase over the period. Specifically, actual use of foreign investment in high-tech manufacturing jumped by 109.8 percent, while that in the software and information technology service ascended by 41.2 percent year on year to 511 million U.S. dollars. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Zhang Yawei)
