Wuhan's GDP expected to grow around 6 pct in 2025

Wuhan’s GDP is expected to increase by approximately 6 percent in 2025, according to the government work report delivered at the sixth session of the 15th Wuhan Municipal People’s Congress on Jan. 6, 2026.


The figure marks the highest growth rate of Wuhan's GDP in the past four years.


In the past four years, Wuhan’s economy has charted a robust recovery trajectory. In 2022, the city’s regional GDP grew by 4.0 percent. In 2023, the growth rate climbed to 5.7 percent, with total value surpassing the 2 trillion yuan mark. Despite continued pressures in 2024, Wuhan maintained steady growth at 5.2 percent. In 2025, the high-tech manufacturing in Wuhan contributed 54.3 percent to the growth of industrial enterprises above designated size, while the number of high-tech enterprises exceeded 17,000, ranking among the top cities nationwide. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Ruan Xinqi)
