2026 cherry blossom season in Wuhan kicks off

The information office of Wuhan municipal government held a press conference on March 6, announcing the official launch of the 2026 cherry blossom season in the city.
According to local landscaping department, the blooming period of cherry blossoms in the city this year has been extended to nearly two months through the strategic planting of early, mid, and late-flowering cherry varieties. To enhance accessibility for residents and tourists, the city has planned 45 cherry blossom viewing corridors, including nine along waterways and 36 on major urban thoroughfares. Viewing spots have also been arranged across more than 100 public spaces and 78 parks.
This year’s cherry blossom season features over 30 themed events. Visitors can admire the blossoms from a birds-eye view on the Optics Valley sky train, enjoy a dazzling light show at the historic Yellow Crane Tower, or take part in educational activities at Wuhan Zoo that combine flower viewing with bird-watching. For those who prefer a leisurely stroll, fairs at the Jiefang Park and Dijiao Park will offer a vibrant blend of sightseeing and shopping. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Ruan Xinqi)
